Most dance schools list 'street dance' or 'hip hop' alongside ballet and tap. It's the style most often misrepresented. What gets taught is usually street jazz with a label slapped on, not the actual culture.
Real street dance is a family of foundation styles. Hip hop. House dance from Chicago. Locking from Don Campbell in 1970s LA. Waacking from the LA disco floors. Old School groove from the Bronx and Brooklyn block parties.
At HK we teach the foundation. Don Campbell's locking. The disco-arms of waacking. House footwork. Old school groove. By the time you join a crew session you can move properly in any of them.

The street dance classes at HK are taught by these four. Each runs their own crew night, has their own credits, takes their own lineage seriously.
Opened HK at 18 in a community hall in Kingswood. Twenty-three years on the floor, still teaching every week.
World Hip Hop final 2019. Britain's Got Talent semi-final 2022. Still teaches the Wednesday Brentwood crew nights.
Backing dancer for Adam Lambert's 2023 tour. Cruise ships, West End rooms. Now teaching commercial and waacking week in week out.

You can hold an 8-count, you know what real street dance actually looks like, and you can take a turn in the cypher without freezing.
House footwork, locking points, waacking arms, old school groove. You know the lineage and you can move properly in each.
If you want it, you can audition for the HK Crew. Nationals, Worlds, the annual show at Queen's Theatre. Optional, never pushed.
Tots class for ages 2-4, then proper street dance from 5 onward. Adult commercial / heels at Brentwood Wednesday evenings.
